Bulgaria or Canada? This is the question!

 

There is no right or wrong answer. Each country has its benefits in terms of conducting business, purchasing real estate, immigrating or a combination of them.

Bulgaria is attractive a number of reasons:

 

  • EU Member as of 2007

  • NATO Member as of 2004

  • WTO Member as of 1996

  • Currency stability - the Bulgarian Lev (BGN) is pledged against the Euro, by means of a currency board, at a fixed rate of 1 Eur=1.95583 BGN 

  • Strategic location - Bulgaria is conveniently located and serves as a gateway from Europe to Russia, Turkey and Greece and visa-versa. It has two main sea ports -  Burgas and Varna as well as several ports on the Danube river. 

Conducting business

 

  • Bulgaria enjoys the lowest flat corporate income tax in the European Union - 10%. This is why many companies have moved their headquarters and operate through here.

  • In addition, the income tax on dividents is only 5%.

  • VAT in Bulgaria is set at 20% and is processed and returned to companies within 3 months - by law. There is no backlog on VAT payments!

  • The cost for operating companies in Bulgaria is among the lowest in Europe - accounting, company registration, operating costs and personnel salaries are very affordable. 

  • Bulgaria has a zero tariff market within the EU - a population of 500 million

  • Bulgaria has a zero tariff market with Turkey - a population of 80 million.

 

Live and Travel

 

There are several options for non-EU nationals who want to live and conduct business on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria - they can obtain permanent residence and/or citizenship through a number of programs and visas:

  • representation office - usually the fastest way to get a permit to enter/exit multiple times and reside in the country without limit

  • citizenship through direct investment or through conducting business

  • Cost of life - among the cheapest countries to live in Europe.
